Should’ve done this a long time ago

Building an online presence can be a daunting task. More so, when you’re a bit of an introvert by default. In today’s busy world, you need to be active on social media. You need a web presence, a handle, engagement, content and an affinity for promoting yourself.

Hi, I’m Tim, and I finally decided to build an online presence. After a few years of blissful anonymity, I figured it might be worthwhile having a place to show off some of my creative works.

First step was registering a domain name I liked. Alas, someone liked it before me, so I needed to pick something else. What followed was a long decision-making process. Most authors brand themselves by their names, though a handful uses pseudonyms or company identities. I went with my nickname / artist name, so let’s see how that turns out. Next up, I needed to decide if wanted to build this website in Danish or English. Honestly, both have merits. Writing in English means accessing a large, international market. Writing in Danish means I get to use funny words and vowels, unpronounceable to non-native speakers.

In the end, I settled for English. I’m still going to have to figure out search engine optimisation, and what that means for the Danish market. Hopefully, it will work out in the long run.

If not? I’ll figure something out.
